Theme settings
Every switch in Theme settings, what it does, and what it is set to out of the box.
Theme settings is the gear icon at the bottom of the left column in the theme editor. These settings apply to the whole store. Anything set on an individual section overrides them there.
Logo#
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Logo image | none | Falls back to your store name set in monospace. Transparent PNG or SVG. |
| Logo width | 120px | 50–250px. Curio’s masthead is deliberately restrained. |
| Favicon | none | 32×32 PNG recommended. |
Colors#
Five schemes ship ready to use. Each has six roles, and each section in the theme picks a scheme by number, so recoloring the store is a matter of editing these rather than hunting through sections.
| Scheme | Character |
|---|---|
| 1 — Manila | Warm paper. The default, and what the theme was designed in. |
| 2 — Counter | Clean white with a blue accent. The most neutral option. |
| 3 — Kraft | Deeper card stock. Good for a warmer, older-stock feel. |
| 4 — Surplus | Dark olive. |
| 5 — Carbon | Near-black with a cool accent. |
The roles, and what each one paints:
| Role | Used for |
|---|---|
| Background | The page behind everything |
| Text | Body text, headings, and the hairline rules, which are drawn from the text color |
| Surface | Card and image backgrounds — a close sibling of the background, sharing its text color. Also secondary buttons. |
| Accent | Links, condition stamps, and focus outlines |
| Button, Button label | Primary buttons |
Two things worth knowing before you change these:
- Keep contrast. All five schemes ship above the WCAG AA thresholds. If you drop a pale accent onto a pale background, links become unreadable for some shoppers and Shopify’s own accessibility checks will flag it. Adjust the accent rather than the background when a pair looks wrong.
- Gradients are available but off. Curio’s identity is flat print. A gradient background will work, and will read as a different theme.
Typography#
Two font pickers, with different jobs.
| Setting | Default | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Primary font | System sans-serif | Headings, body text, navigation |
| Ledger font | System monospace | Prices, tags, stamps, tables, labels, buttons |
| Heading size scale | 100% | 90–125%, scales the whole heading ladder |
Both default to system fonts, which means zero font downloads and a measurably faster store. Changing them to a hosted font from Shopify’s library costs real load time; it can be worth it, but spend it knowingly.
There is one rule the design depends on, and the theme enforces it for you: the primary font is sentence case, the ledger font is uppercase. Long text is never set in the ledger font. That contrast is what keeps a print-primitive look from tipping into pastiche.
Layout#
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Page width | 1440px | 1200–1600px |
| Page margin | 24px | 16–64px — the minimum gutter on small screens |
| Section spacing | 64px | 40–96px — vertical space between sections |
Navigation#
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Show breadcrumbs | on | A trail above the content on everything except the home page |
| Show a back-to-top button | on | Appears once you have scrolled. No JavaScript involved. |
Ledger marks#
The dial between “working stock ledger” and “sharp minimal shop”. Turn any of these off and the layout stays intact — the marks simply stop being drawn.
| Setting | Default | What it controls |
|---|---|---|
| Show lot numbers | on | The No. 001 numbering on cards and grids |
| Show condition stamps | on | Stamped grade chips everywhere they appear |
| Tilt stamps and notes | on | The slight rotation on stamps. Off is cleaner and more corporate. |
| Show receipt perforation and barcode marks | on | The cart’s receipt treatment |
Product cards#
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Image fit | Show full image | Show full image sits the whole photo on a card mat — the right choice for mixed, inherited photography. Fill the frame crops to fill, for a consistent shot library. |
| Show vendor | on | |
| Show condition stamp | on | Needs curio.condition_grade |
| Show quick view | on | Opens the product in a dialog from the grid. Loads only when clicked. |
| Show quick add | off | Single-variant products only, where one click is unambiguous |
Badges#
Badges read your own data — a compare-at price, a publish date, tracked inventory. One badge shows at a time. Nothing here can invent a claim.
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Show badges | on | The master switch |
| Show a reduced badge | on | Requires a compare-at price higher than the price |
| Reduced badge shows | Wording | Or a calculated percentage off |
| Show a low stock badge | off | Only for products with inventory tracking on |
| Low stock at | 3 | 1–20 |
| Count as new for | 0 days | Days since publishing. 0 turns the new badge off. |
Sold lots#
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Enable sold archive | off | Sold-out products stay browsable with a sold stamp instead of dropping out |
| Show price on sold lots | on | What it went for. Some dealers want this, some do not. |
Turning the archive on changes what a sold product page does: a grayscale gallery, a SOLD overstamp, a struck price, and a bordered notice with a link onward. It is off by default because it only makes sense once you actually have an archive worth showing. See the sold archive.
Cart#
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cart type | Drawer | Drawer slides in over the page; Page navigates to /cart |
| Show cart note | on | A free-text note field, which resale buyers use constantly |
| Show Sign in with Shop | on | Requires customer accounts to be enabled |
| Offer gift wrapping | off | See gift wrapping |
| Gift wrapping product | none | The product added as the wrapping line |
Motion#
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Reveal sections as they scroll in | on | Always disabled for shoppers whose system asks for reduced motion |
Curio has exactly one hover gesture: elements press 2px into their own shadow. There is no setting for it, and no carousel autoplay anywhere in the theme.
Search#
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Show search suggestions while typing | on | Products, collections, pages, and articles. The script loads on first interaction with the search field, not on page load. |
Social media#
Six link fields — Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest. Paste the full URL. Only the ones you fill in are drawn, and the icons appear in the footer when Show social icons is on there.
Follow on Shop#
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Show Follow on Shop button | on | Lets Shop app users follow your store from the footer |
